Install solar

BEES coop funds my installation

Want solar panels but cannot fund the installation yourself? BEES coop can assess investing on your behalf.

Interested in cooperative solar funding?

Tell us about your roof. We can explore whether a BEES coop-funded project is possible.

An available roof. A collective investment.

You make a roof available and BEES coop assesses funding a solar installation. The aim is to develop solar generation and help people access it even when they cannot fund panels on their own.

Why with BEES coop?

A cooperative behind the panels

BEES coop is the cooperative supermarket behind BEES Energy. Part of its resources and the funds invested in the cooperative help develop solar installations.

A project shaped around your situation

Every roof is different. Solar potential, the building’s needs and occupants’ expectations are considered together, rather than applying a single formula.

Clear responsibilities

BEES coop carries the solar investment. BEES Energy ASBL organises electricity sharing between members: two organisations with distinct roles.

From a first question to a project

  1. Introduce your roof

Tell us where the building is, the type of roof and what you know about its condition and insulation. The solar map can provide an initial indication.

Explore my roof’s solar potential ↗
  2. Explore the potential

The team considers the roof, consumption and suitability of the project. Investment resources are limited: an enquiry does not guarantee funding.

  3. Agree the conditions

Before any commitment, the offer must explain funding, use of the roof and electricity, responsibilities and how the project will proceed.

  4. Prepare delivery

If the project is selected and terms are agreed, the parties organise the procedures, installation and preparation for sharing.

What if the roof belongs to a co-owned building?

Prepare the project collectively: bring co-owners together, present a proposal to the general assembly, examine the needs of communal areas and apartments, and coordinate the works. Cooperative investment is a funding option to explore together.

The arrangement offered by BEES coop

These points describe the model supplied by BEES coop. Prices, rent, works and responsibilities for your building are set out in a proposal and agreement before you commit.

25 years, with BEES coop
BEES coop, the supermarket cooperative, finances and owns the installation during the 25-year agreement, starting from signature. BEES Energy ASBL organises sharing.
Roof and electricity
The investor pays rent to the roof owner, agreed for each project. On-site electricity is sold to the owner; the investor retains income from grid injection and green certificates.
Maintenance and insurance
BEES coop covers installation maintenance and insurance under the agreement. The owner also informs their own insurer.
Assessment and delivery
Roof area and financial viability based on on-site consumption guide selection. The model allows two years for installation; electrical upgrades advanced by the investor are charged to the owner.
Roof works and the end of the term
After 25 years, the installation transfers free of charge to the building owner. One roof-work intervention is possible between October and March, subject to the notice and duration in the contract. Removal, storage, reinstallation and lost production remain subject to the charges in the agreement.

Questions before you get started

Who finances a third-party installation?

The offer presented here is provided by BEES coop, while BEES Energy ASBL organises sharing. A project is assessed before any commitment. The investment agreement must specify financing, ownership, roof use and responsibilities; it is separate from the sharing agreement.

Who handles maintenance and technical problems?

For an installation financed by BEES coop, the cooperative handles maintenance and installation insurance under the agreement. The building owner must also inform their insurer. Report problems to the team; the contract defines responsibilities and any building works.

What if I need to renovate or insulate my roof?

Mention planned roof work during the study. The BEES coop model requires three months’ notice and provides for one temporary removal between October and March, for at most 14 days. Removal, storage, reinstallation and lost production may be charged to the owner under the agreement. Confirm your project’s schedule and costs before works begin.

Who needs to be notified about installation?

Check Sibelga procedures with the installer and certification steps if applying for green certificates. Inform your insurer too. With third-party financing, ask BEES coop who completes each step and keep confirmations; do not assume everything is automatic.

How do I end a third-party investment agreement?

This is different from leaving energy sharing. Read your installation agreement and contact BEES coop about the procedure and possible charges or compensation. The assistant cannot terminate contracts or calculate these amounts.

What happens to the installation at the end of the contract?

The third-party investment agreement runs for 25 years from signature. At its end, ownership of the installation transfers free of charge to the building owner. Your proposal sets out the project-specific conditions before you sign. This contract is separate from the energy-sharing agreement.

Should I tell my insurer?

Yes. Tell your insurer about the project and confirm coverage, conditions and any premium changes. If a third party owns the installation, clarify insurance and responsibilities in the agreement too. An unchanged premium is not guaranteed.

What if I move, rent out or sell?

For an installation financed by BEES coop, contact them before a sale, rental or change of occupant. Takeover and transfer arrangements depend on the agreement. Notify BEES Energy separately if your participating electricity point changes.

Can I combine my own funds with third-party investment?

Do not assume the BEES coop offer supports mixed financing. Present your project to the team so they can confirm available arrangements and responsibilities. Financing and export rights must be clear before committing.
